Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Academy of Meteorological Research Second Round of Public Recruitment Announcement for 2025
“Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Academy of Meteorological Research (GBA Academy) is a national-level scientific and technological innovation platform formed
in 2023 with the approval of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA). Centered on the Guangzhou Institute of Tropical and Marine Meteorology, CMA, it brings together
meteorological research institutions across the Bay Area. The Academy provides scientific and technological support for the development of the GBA, China's "21st
Century Maritime Silk Road" initiative, and the advancement of meteorological modernization.”
We are now launching the second round of public recruitment for the GBA Academy for the year 2025. The relevant announcements are as follows:
I. Recruitment Positions
(A) Research Positions: At the Guangzhou Institute of Tropical and Marine Meteorology, CMA
CMA is recruiting Young Talents and Leading Talents in three key areas: Numerical Weather Prediction, Marine Meteorology, and Tropical Severe Weather.
1. Young Talents Series (Generally under 40 years old)

Position 1: Research Position (Young Talent - Numerical Weather Prediction Direction) (Position Code: GBAA202501)

Qualifications

Under 40 years old, holds a doctoral degree, with a background in numerical weather prediction. Preference will be given to those with overseas work or study
experience.

Engaged in numerical weather prediction research and development, with experience in undertaking national-level projects, or having served as a core team member in
the development of numerical model algorithms or having published papers with high citation rates in domestic or international academic journals.

Strong research capabilities and innovation ability, able to independently undertake research projects and promote disciplinary development, while possessing good
teamwork spirit.

Responsibilities

Focus on the cutting-edge developments in numerical prediction domestically and internationally, conducting research on key technologies for tropical regional
numerical prediction.

Assist in formulating development plans for regional numerical prediction and completing key team tasks.

Participate in model operational shift duties, application outreach, and related activities.

Complete other tasks assigned by the Academy and the laboratory.

Position 2: Research Position (Young Talent - Marine Meteorology Direction) (Position Code: GBAA202502)

Position 7: Research Position (Data Assimilation Direction) (Position Code: GBAA202507)

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree is required. Preference will be given to candidates with work or joint training experience in overseas research institutions.

Priority will be given to the following majors and fields: Atmospheric Sciences, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information
Engineering, Applied Mathematics, and related disciplines. Research focus should be in areas such as numerical weather prediction model development, data assimilation
theory and methods, and radar/satellite meteorological data processing.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following core competencies and project experience:

Development and practical experience in data assimilation methods (e.g., 3D-Var, 4D-Var, Ensemble Kalman Filter), with the ability to independently complete
algorithm coding and verification;

Experience in the secondary development or operational application of regional numerical weather prediction models (e.g., WRF, GRAPES);
-
Proficiency in artificial intelligence and deep learning technologies, or experience in developing nowcasting algorithms, with the ability to integrate AI
techniques with meteorological data assimilation.

Academic achievements within the past five years must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Publication of one or more papers in SCI/SSCI journals in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or related fields.

Leadership of provincial/ministerial-level or above research projects.
-
Receipt of provincial/ministerial-level or above awards.
-
Other equivalent academic accomplishments.

Responsibilities
-
Participate in the research and development of a new-generation numerical prediction model and data assimilation system, completing research tasks as required.

Conduct research on data assimilation methods and their applications.

Develop meteorological disaster warning and forecasting systems.
(C) Research Position at the Yangjiang Meteorological Support Technology Research Center

Possesses research background or work experience in at least one of the following: collaborative processing technology and data application of multi-source
meteorological data; dynamics and numerical simulation of severe convective weather; artificial intelligence; research and development on the formation mechanisms,
disaster-causing mechanisms, and monitoring/warning of severe convective weather; or marine economic meteorological services.

Experience in undertaking national-level projects or having published papers with high citation rates in domestic or international academic journals.

Strong research capabilities and innovation ability, able to independently undertake research projects and promote disciplinary development, while possessing good
teamwork spirit.

Responsibilities

Focus on the cutting-edge developments in marine economic meteorological services and hazardous weather forecasting domestically and internationally, conducting
research on key technologies for customized forecasting based on AI, etc.

Assist the Yangjiang Meteorological Support Technology Research Center and the Key Laboratory of Meteorological Support for Offshore Economic Industries in
formulating development plans and completing key team tasks.

Complete other tasks assigned by the GBA Academy and the Yangjiang Meteorological Bureau.

II. Recruitment Process

include a CV, copies of academic degree certificates, research achievements, and other relevant materials.

Qualification Review: Submitted materials will be reviewed by the GBA Academy's office and will then determine candidates that meet the recruitment
criteria.

Interview Assessment: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The time and location will be notified separately.

Physical Examination: After the interview assessment, a 1:1 ratio of candidates to be examined will be determined based on the number of positions available.
The physical examination will be conducted strictly according to the "Implementation Rules for Physical Examinations of Public Recruitment Personnel in Guangdong
Province (Trial)".

Employment: Successful candidates who pass the physical examination will be formally hired on a contract basis, with all procedures completed in accordance
with the regulations.
